Default Question about OB injector seals

Hi am replacing my injectors on my 79 euro to try and improve its rough running. I have checked out the spray patterns by filling with carb cleaner and them compressed air blast, and some seem to push out a nice cone, others firing out the side, so it is worth it as a troubleshooting move at least. I am using the mercedes injectors.

Being an old car the injetors and metal caps unscrewed out as one piece. I need new seals of course, but the seals in the PET are single uniform donuts that seem to sit in the metal cap. On my car it looks like there is a longer thinner seal extending down the length of the injector. Mine are obviously toast, see pics. Can someone advise what the assembly + seals should look like?

That seal does not look like that when new. See the following post.

Yeah, that is not what it should look like. Should be the single piece. My guess is that this is either something someone improvised, or it is the single piece part falling apart.

You need 928 110 398 00 and my price is $9 each.
Are you using new Mercedes injectors? If so the spray pattern should be uniform on all 8.

Thanks guys, there is certainly a cylindrical rubber sleeve extending down into the injector hole in the spider leg on my car, some of the sleeve has stayed in the leg and some has come out with the injector.

Like you say maybe this is an improvised arrangement but I cant work out what problem it was solving - and am surprised if these injectors have ever been out, knowing the car...Wondered if it might have been a factory variation.

Yes I am switching to the mercedes injectors from stock, the spray pattern is going to be beautiful! I am in the UK, picked up a set from German ebay for 140 Euro
