VIN Barcode - what year?

What year did they start putting the VIN barcode on the door jamb? I’m compiling a list of all the different stickers I need for all of my cars and I’m not sure if my 85 and 86 should have them.

Not 100% sure but I think they started in '84 (?). The font of the barcode numbers changed between '85 and '86.

Thanks Rob. Do you happen to know what the front changed from and to? Does anyone have any pics of both?
