Default Anyone *recently* reground 2v cams?

New focus before the end of 2019 is to get my sons 78 together so he can drive it when he gets to 16+n (n being the 6 months from when he gets his permit and does his hours)

I have, as always, many parts. This for those of you who have been around a while is the 78 I painted in... Jesus... 2003. Sunroof delete 5 spd.

Question is I have a resealed 4.7 I was going to plop in and use CIS at first to get it going... has anyone had the 2v cams reground recently? Success? Failure? Maybe a nice lope from more overlap, dunno.

I may just just put it in, and another option is using the 78-79 cams.

contact megacycle or elgin. they have done alot of 928 cams over the years. I'm guessing GB might have a set laying around that they stumbled on during their move

You won’t get much gain just from the cams in a stock or stockish engine. Order of gains are exhaust, cylinder heads, intake then cams. I’m putting together my old 5.0 litre again with the only real change being better cylinder heads. It used to do around 390 to 400 hp. It could do that or close to it without modified cams. Maybe if you go real big it might do something but in the end I believe I ran out of airflow. On the rear wheel Dyno power increased only 5 hp between 5,000 and 6,000 rpm. The curve was very flat. It did a 12.6 1/4 mile at 110 mph with a manual transmission and limited traction. Hope to lower it ASAP.
