Well, part of it is anyway. It's a mixed bag, but should be fun to work through.

Find the confidential VIN stamping. Confirm that your paperwork is in order. Something is askew

No kidding something isn't right.

It turns out I am wrong about the "JA0" part. I thought they were all "JB0" and that was wrong. Not the first time, won't be the last.

But that is NOT a US car. I'd bet pretty heavy on that. Euro fog & driving lights, not US parking & fog. Euro H4 headlights. Euro turn signal repeaters on the fender behind the wheel.

NO corner marker lights. None at all. Not even the 'El Cheapo' trailer lights that are on so many.

Not to mention the CIS M28/11 motor.

Having seen the pics now, agree that something isn’t adding up. That’s a euro car in the pics, with a US model VIN on the paperwork.

The engine , instruments cluster and external look indicate a 1980 Euro 928 S.
The VIN indicates a 1983 US 928.

What is the gearbox number?

I would bet on a 1980 Euro S with a VIN transplant.
