Default 83' Steel balljoints available at Rockauto

Just happened to look for balljoints for my 83 at Rockauto tonight - they have them for $91. It sure was news to me... Bruce

You’ll find many here like to support the vendors that support us and know really know the 928 . ex: 928sRus, 928 Intl, 928 Specialists , etc. they almost always do it for less and know what parts are needed to save you on bundled shipping costs. T

To expand a bit on Tony's comment, you will also find that many of us have had "less than stellar" experiences with RockAuto, due to quality issues with the cheap Chinese knockoffs they sell.

No way I'd buy a water pump for the 928 from them.

Kinda doubt I'd want to trust ball joints from them either..

The ball joints at Rockauto are aftermarket URO. Probably made in China but most of there parts are OK.
I prefer to sell the original Porsche ball joints for $135 which is a small premium for the best.

Ok. Point taken and no argument. Just for the record, I learned about Rockauto here, on this forum. Here's the thread. There were different opinions then too. They sell stuff from all over the world and they have helped me.

My memory's not too good but on the balljoints; aren't these the ones that replace the aluminum balljoints? The ones I looked everywhere for in the spring of 2016? I actually bought a set from a Rennlist Sponsor only to find they were NLA. He helped me though and I got one from a site I've never heard of here in the USA and the other from Australian Ebay. Both were new, much safer than the Al ones, and now on the car. A big turn around from thinking I might have to scrap the car!...Bruce

PS I know it doesn't matter but I cringe every time we generalize about Chinese products.

George looks pretty darn happy!

I'm betting that the Chinese ones are better than the original aluminum ones....and better than the rebuilt ones that were done when new ones were not available.

Like OTR18WHEELER said, you don't want a ball joint to fail.
I had it happen to me on another car, luckily I was barely moving coming up to a stop sign.
If it were to happen on the highway it could easily total a car. Suspension isn't where you want to cheap out.

I've had good experiences with RockAuto, You just need to know what you're ordering. You just can't beat their prices on some stuff.

I've received a couple parts over the years that weren't what was advertised and they took them back and paid for return shipping without issue.
