Another really cool car Andrew and of course the finest year of 928. :) I look forward to following your progress on this one.
Did you happen to see this thread from Ed? https://rennlist.com/forums/928-foru...d-auction.html Interesting article (post #3) in there about Brumos's mechanic with a picture of him working on a 928. Wonder if he ever worked on your car? |
Wow, that is a really early pearl white metallic 928!
Great save Droo, and what a neat piece of American Porsche history. |
Drooman - Not sure where in FL you are located but I'd be happy to lend a hand wrenching on this car if possible. I'm in Gainesville.
My dad bought his first Porsche 914 from Brumos in 1971 and had his next two (911 and 944) serviced there regularly. I saw Peter Gregg and Hurley Haywood take many checkered flags at Sebring and Daytona with the Brumos Boosters Brigade back in the 1970s and recall when Deborah tried her hand at the wheel in the 80s. This is a really nice piece of history you've found. |
I'm only aware of two other pearl 928s.. Jim's S4 and The Sheik's
Pearl became available as a color offered by Porsche starting in the 1986 model year: L947 perlmuttweiss. This car (build date 1/84) has L999 for a paint code (paint to sample) The first pearl car produced by Porsche to my knowledge was the 1983 959 prototype in the museum. .. making this 928 very early in the Pearl efforts by the factory. The first pearl "out the door" ? Time and research will hopefully tell. https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...7cb48c3d46.jpg https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...3a3de6b16c.png |

I was able to find a former owner from 1991 who was kind enough to mail me (in the mail) photos (from a film camera) he took of the car in '91. The car spent its whole life in Jacksonville from 1984-2018 under four owners (one owned it twice)

The headrest treatment is part of the Brumos livery isn't it? Is there a way to determine if it was delivered that way or if it was added at the dealer? Very cool!
