Another sign of Going Big Time - 62k mile 82 @ Gooding Amelia Island auction
A 1982 is up for auction tomorrow at Gooding at Amelia Island. Gooding, Bohnams and RM Sothebys are the swankest of the auction houses, typically only featuring the best of the best. Don't normally see a 928 in these auctions, or at these very special venues. The pre-auction estimate on this one is $25K to $35K, with 62,000 miles on the clock, 15" phone dials, and a 3 speed Roger Box. Very nice looking example, and it is without reserve. Linky: https://www.goodingco.com/vehicle/1982-porsche-928/.
Will be interesting to see where it ends up. Is it anyone here?

Race Car
That is interesting to see a non-GTS here. Not a special color-combo and looks like it sat in a large collection for the past 17 years, likely not seeing much use. I'd be surprised if met the estimates listed, but who knows? Definitely a different auction crowd than us "regular folk" that hang out at BaT.
So I googled "The Brumos Collection" where this car lived for the past 17 years and came across this article. https://firstcoastmagazine.com/news/...-an-open-road/ Check out the last picture. Is that this car? Is that racing livery on the hood? You can also see a 928 in the overhead garage shot. Well maybe the Brumos connection gives this car some additional provenance, but I don't see $35K.

This is where the market is currently hungry, the all original un-restored examples.

So, how did the 928 do yesterday?
Quick note on the photo above, the area that is shown is actually the race team prep/ repair area, the "Brumos Collection " is mostly housed behind that gray rollup door on the left and part of the deal with going in is that you agree to not take any photos.

Just checked - the preauction estimate was $25 to $35K and it hammered at $27.5K. Nice sale for an '80.
