Replacing oil pressure sender - Can this be done without draining the oil?
Hello,
My oil pressure sender wire connector damaged due to alternator installing. Wire connector was so fragile that it cracked when I tightened the nut of the wire ;(.
Is it possible to replace the oil pressure sender from underneath without taking the oils out? Is there valve to block the oil? Oil change has been done recently so I would like to change only the sender with minimum work.
Best regards,
Mika

Move fast?
I changed my trans drain plug a while back. I had changed the trans fluid not too long before (long story).
All I did was have the replacement really close, carefully unscrew the plug that was in, pay attention to it when it starts to get close (you can see a drip or two start) and when it came loose I just got the new one in as fast as I could.
I lost maybe a couple ounces of gear oil.
Do it when the engine is ice cold. That would help.

Remove your oil filter for easier access. 24mm and 27mm wrenches make easy work of it.

He got a "soft ban." he can read in this part of the forum but can't post to dispute anyone's claims. He usually lets you post what he says to you in the thread it relates to.

I was also unaware of the “soft ban” mentioned above. That’s very creative on Hacker’s part...
Meaning: how many variations of being banned are there that I don't know about.

Thanks for the tips.
Managed to replace the sender.
In my -78 both nuts were 24mm so I had to buy a friend for existing one. I got easy access by removing the alternator. Did not have to be thin wrenches.
However I had to get some Jedi forces to get it loose, damn it was tight!
I got great tip by PM which I used: Lowered the passenger side 4 inch lower than drivers side, and none of the oil was leaked!

Alternator removal?
Hiya,
I was just about to remove my oil pressure sender via the removal of the alternator route when I read this.
so is it possible to remove the sender if I remove the oil filter first and have stubby 24/27 wrenches? That’d be soooo much better than having to remove the alternator. I don’t have help so it seems an alternator removal would be a major chore with a decent amount of swearing.
I have an 89 ROW and the sender is toast, oil needs to be changed including filter, and I have a leak in my oil cooler at the nuts, fingers crossed it’s just new washers needed. My plan was to drain the oil, remove the filter and sender, put in new washers and top up the oil.
then I thought wouldn’t it be nice to replace the sender and test to see if it works first before I drain the oil and replace the washers?
any suggestions are appreciated as always. I’ve definitely learned a lot from y’all but man, is it ever intimidating working on a car like this for the first time!
Appreciate you!!!
