Starter wire harness grommet where does it go
- Please see the picture. Where does this starter wire grommet go and how/where are the starter wires routed?

Hello Ryan,
That grommet is for the alternator cooling shroud. It goes around the power cable and excitation wires and fits into a slot in the top of the shroud.
Hope the pictures make sense.

Do you mean the (+) battery cable from the back, the power cable from the alternator to the starter, or the yellow wire from the 14-pin connector that energizes the solenoid on the starter?

Looking at my photos of where I took apart my 1986.5, I believe the wiring from the alternator to the starter loops back along the driver's side inner fenderwell, then between the input shaft to the steering rack and the body, then loops down to run along the crossmember with the battery cable.

PLEASE put the Year and Model of your car in Every Post. So we have a clue what car you are working on.
The grommet in your picture fits in a cutout in the cooling air shroud that fits on teh rear of the alternator. Passing through that grommet ate the fee from alternator to starter, the feed from alternator to jump post, and the xcitatio feed to the alternaor via the front of engine harness from the 14-pin connection on the right fenderwall near the jump post. Some later cars with ABS add the feed from the starter solenoid to the ABS power post just forward of the power steering reservoir.
The routing for the feeder between alternator and starter is retained in a clamp with bolt on top of the crossmember. Route is shielded from exhaust heat as it pasess over the crossmember at the motor mount there. 6mm capscrew with 10mm hex head into a threaded boss in the crossmember. Behind that, Seth's picture says it all.
