That's some consolation I guess. I mentioned to my machine shop owner that I was not an engine builder, but an assembler and he chuckled in agreement.

So, a year and almost 3 months later the engine is complete. All I need to do is install the 30# injectors, spark plug wires and new wiring FOE engine harness.

This is what it looks like today.

After what seems an eternity, the mini-stroker started today.

Couple of issues I need to address not related to the engine.

The timing belt light comes on after 5 minutes. I had to repair the connector. So, I need to take a look.

The clutch pedal hit the floor. Need to bleed the system after we replaced the slave. Luckily the car already has a GB clutch line so that will be easy.

Need to sort out the bad LH.

But, the car started and ran and idles @ 1000ish with 30# injectors.

The GB exhaust is a lot quieter than I was expecting. I prefer that.

The great part of that exhaust system is that it is quiet at low loads (less exhaust volume and velocity.)
So, you can drive through your neighborhood at 2AM and no one knows you drove by their house.

It also does not resonate at any freeway speeds, so you don't need hearing protection or need to get out of the car every 1/2 hour.

But once you stick your toe into it...it's a completely different animal.

I was at a famous West Coast Hot Rod shop, having a real wheel dyno test done.
The entire shop came out and over to the dyno area. To a man, everyone said that the car had the best sounding exhaust they had ever heard.
Everyone kept asking who made it and if they could get it for their hot rod V-8 projects.
One of my best days....

Let's start with this: Thank you for all your guidance. There would be no stroker in my garage without your help. I really appreciate how much you shared that made this project possible.

I've only got an hour or two of the car running as I sort out the rest of the car. I'm waiting on a couple of oil filters so I can begin in earnest the break-in cutting up oil filters, etc.

I'm taking my time. The car has been sitting for almost three years waiting on the engine. Along the way I had Constantine rebuild the torque tube, swapped in Konis with Eibach springs.

The idle is damn near perfect - surprising since the computer is a stock 87 one. Hopefully, the repaired LH will be back next week.

This is just the beginning of the journey. I have a punch list of what I need to do to get it street ready.

So much worth the wait.

Back to the exhaust. It is so sweet sounding as the engine revs. No rattles or pops or the ticking that the previous owner of the exhaust complained about.

Cannot wait to hear it on the street.

Thank you Greg.

Hi Kevin,

Congratulations on your stroker project and this milestone.

Perfect excuse for me to visit your shop. Expect a call soon.

Enjoy your 928 and the test drives.

Thanks for the acknowledgment, although I wouldn't like to leave the illusion that you and I are great buddies.

Initially, I had hoped you were "cut from a different cloth" than the rest of the slimeballs that copy my stuff. I wanted to see if we could possibly work together and be friends. A West Coast place to get my pieces and knowledge and a Southern Coast to do the same.
That's why I shared so much time, parts, and knowledge with you. And hoped that our relationship would not turn out to be a "one way street", like it did when I wanted your broken GT transmission, for parts.

Regretfully, your "need" to essentially copy my fuel dampers and regulators dumped you into the same category and made this impossible. The old "come up with your own damn idea" raised its ugly head, once again.

The 928 market is:
1. Too small for the same people to be making the same product.
2. There are hundreds of pieces needed for 928's. People need to engineer one one those and make something else completely different. Instead of just making copies of other's work.

I was so disappointed with your actions, that this "final straw" caused me to completely change the ability for others to be able to purchase a certain percentage of my products.

You and another two faced guy in Texas ruined the entire ability for many, in the 928 community, to get some of my fantastic pieces.

While on first glance, this might seem like I'm "cutting off my nose to spite my face", the result is exactly the opposite.
Instead of being incredibly busy, the shop has shifted into impossibly busy....we are aggressively looking for additional people and a larger facility.

I have a confession to make.

As I wrote the acknowledgement above I started to think about how I could thank you in a more meaningful way. I knew you wanted the GT transmission. It's sitting in a cooler read to ship.

What better way to thank you than to ship the transmission to you at my cost and give it to you. I am pretty happy with the 3.07 rear end in the my GTS. Although having a GT ring and pinion on the shelf for the next owner would be nice.

You would think I would change my mind after your response, but surprisingly no.

Greg, the transmission is yours for free - You pay shipping. All you have to do is ask. You are not obligated to like me or stop complaining about me stealing your design, which I didn't.

Merry Christmas or whatever Pagan ritual you observe Greg. :-)

Sincerely yours, your whipping post in Atlanta, Kevin

Took the car out for it's first drive today. Hard to put the difference before and after into words.

But, the car feels as if it lost 1000lbs. It feels lighter and quicker.

Still have to tune it. It still thinks it has 19lb injectors.

Doubtless you have mentioned it somewhere but what injectors is it running?

Default Sharktuning

After fighting with the car to get the WB02 calibrated I finally set the fuel parameters. 30# injectors and .71 injector opening time. The injectors are Bosch Ford injectors. I confirmed the Bosch number. Ends in 945.

I took the car for a drive on my test loop and logged via shark tuner. I would like somebody to look over the results. It was a great ride. There were less than 40 knock alarms in a 30 minute drive. I've never heard a knock alarm before.

I know less than nothing about shark tuning - I've watched Greg and Jim C. work their magic with another of Greg's strokers but nothing really stuck.

I really need a shark tuner whisperer to look through the logs (txt and excel) and explain to me what's happening. I have bin files as well.

Thanks
