0-60 IN 7.5 SECONDS???? Cool car, but nothing a chevy cavalier couldn't top.

Must admit to being surprised by the 0-60 times but as the MK1 GTI was and still is my fav all time car to drive, well who cares!!

This was my baby for quite a time and had MK2 golf 16v running gear and it was brilliant.

Some cars it's all about the take off and top speed but the gti, well show it the windy bits and you'd be laughing all the way home.

And yes this is a totally biased opinion

Have a good christmas all

That may be, but that wouldn't keep me from feeling lobotomized every time I drove a cavalier. And I say that after driving a 4-cyl camry.

Remember....this was back in 1975. There was a different standard for 0-60 times back then.

I wonder what the performance specs was with the GT engine..

What if a striked and superchaged 928 engine would be put in it, 500 ponies to the wheels in a Golf woudl be kinda cool.

A few years from now there will be a host of wild test mules for this "new" 928. Just imagine what those are! - Ruf

I wonder if they ever thought about putting a Chevy Chevette body on a Corvette chassis? What were they thinking? There isn't even a weight savings, 3350 Lbs.
