I love living in Green Bay. As long as no one complains about the noise, nobody cares.
Why don't you guys buy a small piece of land up here and register your Porsche's in Wisconsin?

Hacker-Pschorr,
Maybe the Murph and crew could include a small piece of Wisconsion land with their kits to give their buyers a no smog address.

Living in California must be really great for you guys to put up with the crap you put up with. I mean sure, the tax burden is the highest in the nation, there's lots of mudslides and earthquakes and wildfires, you've got another bad actor for governor, and if you so much as fart in your car it won't pass inspection. But at least the housing prices are off the charts, the roads are gridlocked with traffic pretty much round the clock, there's lots of grisly high-profile crime, and there's nannying legislation to control every aspect of your lives. I guess this makes up for not having to shovel snow occasionally. Or maybe I'm wrong and just have the skewed perspective of the other 49 states (which, by the way, are secretly meeting to see if Lex Luthor's plan from Superman I where he wants to detonate explosives along the San Andreas fault and knock California into the Pacific would work). Can someone set me straight please?

You don't note where you are from, but all this stuff you hear is just propaganda to keep most of you out-of-staters from moving here after 10s of millions did over the last 75 years . You can't get the view behind my car too many other places.
We are having the worst winter in 100 years and it pales in comparion to an average winter in the midwest. We just make it sound really bad. Woe is me, I had to wear a jacket for a few days last week. I almost broke down and bought an umbrella. All of the heavy winter coats I wore when I lived in Ohio are rotting in the closet.
But, then again, I would like to install a modest supercharger. Maybe I will move.

There is no smog testing here in Missouri, yet (not that I know of). I don't know what "visible" mods will pass or not; it kinda depends on who you know around here

Basically anything not CARB approved (with a CARB #) is illegal in CA & would make you fail smog "If" the tech caught it. Also the cops can ask to check under the hood during a traffic stop (these laws are designed for Ricers) and send you for an inspection (CVC 27156) which ends up being very expensive...but I don't see this applying to a 928 unless your driving really stupid, get caught & have a blower sticking out of your hood.
But not all counties in CA are equal. If you look on the smog check website you will see the rules vary widely in how a car is smogged depending on where you live. Bad area (where I live of course) are every two years on a dyno type machine. Good areas are when you buy/sell the car ONLY....so if you bought a 928 and it passed smog, say the next month you put a wicked blower on it...guess what as long as you own it you will keep getting registration tags every year! This seems to be the preferred solution for 928'ers with the means to have a second "vacation" home & is my goal down the road!

Yes, there are a subtantial number of rural counties in CA with smog check only at title transfer (or when you move into the county). I know people who have "property" in those areas and register their cars there. One hazard might be insurance claims if you really don't live there or drive there very much.
