LOL. That was sickly-awesome! You can tell from how the scenery blurs that that thing is wicked-fast.

I'll be there's some new F-car owners that get embarrassed on runs when that 30+ year-old 308 pulls away from them like they've dropped anchor.

Definitely a cool 308, but it doesn't compare to the sound of Sean's 928 going by the camera.

There is really no way to describe the feeling of this car on the street. Aarons shop is just down the road from me and we are always swinging by each others places. One day I asked him if he was around so I could pick up a tool I lent him and he said he'd be right over. I didn't know he'd finished the 308 yet and when he showed up in it.............a ride was to be given. It is absolutely the most insane car I've ever been in. No scary at all, just insanely fast. Very lite and you know as well as I do, that this is 600 to the ground. Easy to figure what the crank HP is on that.

Here's a dyno vid from a while back when he had it turned up bit and he can go more if he wants.

Thanks man, all my exhaust is, is an X-pipe with high flow cats, small resonators and a stock GT muffler.

I sure enjoyed the 308 video. I picked up that the exhaust sounded somewhat "non Ferrari" and this was noted in the dialogue but I did not pick up why [different crank configuration maybe?.

Turbo's change the exhaust note on any car significantly. This one has all of the pipes heading towards one huge turbo. It really starts to sound more like a Ferrari above 6k. At least to me.

It IS easy to come up with A figure. Harder to know if it is right. All depends upon what you use for driveline loss. For me, on a mid-engined car, I figure 12%. So, 570 rwhp (that's what was said in the vid right?) at 12% loss would figure out to ~647 bhp. Which is ...

... you know... pretty ok. Even in Texas.

Curb weight is ~2500 pounds. Add a laughably-conservative 100 pounds for turbo bits and various upgrades and you've got ...

... a F@#%ing Rocket.

I'll bet it makes your face hurt just a little when you floor it.

Here's a dyno vid from a while back when he had it turned up bit and he can go more if he wants.
I lack the imagination to even guess what a bullet-proof turbo f-car motor build costs. I do suspect that it is non-trivially more than a Doc Brown stroker.

Yup!

Think about it: exhaust sound is 'wasted energy.' A turbo motor turns a lot of that wasted exhaust energy into heated-up intake air. They basically turn sound from the exhaust into a heated-up intake air charge.

With enough exhaust length you can 'tune some of the sound' back into the exhaust. (Mercedes TT V8s sound good, so does the 2.5 Audi TT-RS motor) But, the shorter the exhaust length you have to play with, the harder it is to get some good sound out of the exhaust.

Just go over to the 991 boards and scan all the crying and moaning about how the new 3.0 turbo flat sixes sound like vacuum cleaners. (No exhaust length to speak of with the motor hanging out the a$$.)

There is no question about that. Just wait to see what's going to happen in the future

Wow.

And it answers a question: what do you need to do to a 4-pot motor to make is sound good? Push 700+ rwhp through it

Sean? What broke on it?
