Greg,

Is the adjustment procedure you describe in your last post is good for all auto. transmission or more specifically to the ones equipped with the dynamic kickdown?

I think it's good for all trans. but want to make sure before playing with mine to fine tune it.

Sorry for the hijack.
Thank you.

Appropriate for all S-4 style engines with throttle quadrant on side of intake manifold.

Greg, thank you very much. I think I found (awhile ago) a pic of the throttle cables and they were labeled so I can follow your direction above. I know what the Bowden cable is but I will need to find what the TV cable is.

Really appreciate the help and I will be calling you soon when I drop the motor for some fuel lines and a couple other odds and ends.

Greg, the pic I found shows the Bowden Cable, the Throttle Cable, the cable to pedal and the cruise control pedal. Is the TV cable the Bowden? I will search again as I think you posted a tutorial/write up on this process. Thanks again!

There's the cable from the firewall to the quadrant (which comes from the pedal.) Note that it can be adjusted right at the firewall by shortening or lengthening the plastic housing. This cable has the spring (at the quadrant end) that will compress when the kickdown button is depressed, as described above.

There's a throttle cable that runs from the quadrant, which is supposed to run around the inboard side of the air filter support bracket, then go over around a plastic wheel, and then to the lever for the butterfly. It can be adjusted right at the quadrant with the same plastic style length adjuster.

The TV cable runs from the quadrant to the rear oF the car. This cable should be outboard of the air filter support bracket. The only adjustment possible is to loosen the 8mm jam nut, remove the safety clip that holds the ball socket on (this is the only ball socket with a clip), pop off the ball socket, and lengthen or loosen the ball socket as described above.

Cruise control cable goes from quadrant and travels under the master cylinder. You won't have to diconnect it or mess with it....as long as the plastic securing tabs that hold it to the quadrant are still good (rare.) I described, above, one possible repair to secure it to the quadrant. (If one tab is broken, I break off the second. This leaves a nice groove for a tie wrap.)

I think someone at my shop has the skills to post a picture with arrows and words. I'll see if I can one posted here.
