the visene bottle has smaller opeing and the STP is very thick so the volume of oil that comes out is low,

OTOH using a hand pumped type container the volume and the pressure can be much higher thus its easier to for the inner clamp to be loosened.
After the first seal failure due to over pressure with the hand pump oil can,
I have not had any failures with the visene bottle,
it takes about 2 OZ to fill the tensioner, and about 4 mins to stand squeezing the bottle.

the tensioner can not be drained unless its leaking, both ports are at the top of the cavity

Setting up a gravity feed results in a lot more cleanup time being required,
as now you will possibly have oil leaking out of the tensioner and it not being monitored,
and the hoses that are filled with STP oil that will keep draining for hours

Ok, this is gross, but actually the best ever tensioner oil delivery I have used are these curve tip syringes that I use to infuse dog’s **** glands.
Sorry, that’s what my day job is like gentleman.

I believe they are also marketed as hobby syringes

correct, that’s how I remember it. If you feel “too newbie” like some of us (me) to risk applying too much pressure, the gravity drip is a sure (albeit messy) thing. I think practicing with the visine bottle with the old tensioner still in place might give confidence to some of us before using it with the rebuilt.

tip fill a visene bottle with the tip drilled out to 1/16 inch, refit the tip,

and then point tip into the STP bottle and squeeze.

It takes a long time to force that oil through the opening,
this it is a low volumn/ pressure fill procedure and takes about 4 mins to fill a tensioner
