Default new member just bought 82 928 need parts

Hi Just picked up a 82 928 and I need to do a lot of repairs. A/C heater switch levers very loose, fan runs on high only. Need door locks both were broken with a slide hammer. Mouse nest in heater fan etc... Lot's of other repairs needed. Where can I get parts to do these kind of repairs used or new? Any help would be greatly appreciated Thanks.

Welcome, go through the new visitor thread for answers to common questions.
https://rennlist.com/forums/928-foru...questions.html

Roger at 928sRus has a 5 CD set including all the factory manuals, technical bulletins, wiring diagrams etc. It sounds like your HVAC head needs to be rebuilt and you may be able to get a good used lockset from 928 international. How was the maintenance on the car? You almost certainly need the water pump and timing belt replaced and all fuel and power steering hoses replaced to prevent a fire.

First of all, welcome!

Pictures are a great help when asking for help, making use of Search is also a must-do.

Where are you located?

Default some photos and questions

Had to pull center console to replace switches etc... missing a relay in photo anyone know what that relay is? Had huge mouse nest in a/c heater box and blower pulled it apart and cleaned. A perplexing problem I have is with the rear wiper the motor cycles but wont engage the linkage when the hatch is closed. The motor cog does move up and down freely. Condenser fan runs all the time with key on. The heater a/c control is shot any suggestions? The car runs well needs a lot of little repairs and a new set of carpets.

Default missing relay

There's a missing relay that the PO jumper-ed manual says it's the starter relay. Why would it be jumped? What relay is needed to replace?

Welcome to Rennlist and the 928 Forum! Take the time to go through the New Visitors' thread at the top of the front page of the forum. It will help you stay pointed in the right direction as you work through the car issues.

----

Starter relay is not used in the 5-speed cars. It's replaced by a jumper. In the automatic cars, it's used to interrupt the starter signals unless the transmission is in Park or Neutral.

I strongly recommend that you grab a set of the workshop manuals on CD from Roger at 928SRUS (a forum sponsor). The set includes a ton of supplementary pubs and literature that will also guide you.

-----
Housekeeping: You'll do well to go ahead and sign up for a full Rennlist membership. Less than $20/yr gets you benefits including the ability to put your location, year/model/details about your car and yourself in a signature line. In your case it will allow you to ask for parts from members in the forum: Buying/soliciting (and selling) is a priv reserved for full members. Trust me when I suggest that the cost of membership will be justified in the first few discussions and questions you ask.

Again, welcome to the group. You landed in the friendliest and most helpful car forum on the planet. Take advantage of the knowledge accrued by those who have passed this way before you. It will save you many hours or work and frustration, and certainly save you money by minimizing the "throw parts at it until it works" methods of troubleshooting things.

Not that nice. Been repainted (crummy job) was a California car so the brown carpet is all green from fading needs to be replaced. But it runs and drives good. I have to get a new center console as it's broken in several spots also. Can't complain only paid $6 grand.

You need a new blower motor. The blower motor from an older Passat fits nicely with some easy mods to the fan housing. I did this on my '82 a couple years ago: https://rennlist.com/forums/928-foru...l#post12598730

Default manuals

Luckily I acquired an entire set of Porsche workshop manuals with the car. I have a long background with Porsche cars. I'm 64 years old now and I began working at a Porsche/Audi dealer ship in 1973. Lot's of factory training and experience. I was still there when the first 928 came along. I own two 911's a 85 Carrera ans a 82sc. Thank's for helping me out on this Forum.
