I have had some success cleaning window and wiper motors. Thanks for the reminder to give that a try.

It was replaced by a used part from 944Int so if it doesn't respond to 12V direct to terminals... I'll give them a call about warranty.

Also... I just finished a complete brake caliper refresh and disk replacement. I went with OE pads and Sebro disks. The caliper pistons and bores actually looked pretty good. Some marginal residue that came off with brake parts cleaner. I didn't paint the calipers red like I usually do. That's not OE and you can't really see them with the BBS wheels anyway. Everything went back together nicely and braking is much improved. One pad on the front only had about 1mm of material left, wow!

Now I'm getting some strange noises from what I believe to be the compressor clutch. It's getting hot here and I do need the AC. I spayed some PB Blaster into the clutch and that seems to have helped but I suspect that joker is on it's way out. I've got a spare compressor so swapping the clutch out is an option. Is that possible with the compressor mounted?
That procedure worked really well. I pulled the clutch off the compressor that came with the car (with the broken bracket). Cleaned up the mating surfaces and pulled the offending clutch off with the compressor mounted (take the belt off of course). Install the "new" clutch and re-tension the belt. Very simple and now the AC spools up nicely with no clatter.
Here's a thread that helped me...
