The last time I charged my battery I had to move the carpet, spare, ect to get to it but I'm thinking, can I slowely charge it through the jump start points under the hood? I was thinking about hooking it up at 2 amps and just leaving it on. Thanks.

Wow, that Porsche charger sounds pretty trick. I'll go ahead and hook up the trickle under the hood. Either these cars have a natural drain or my battery just sucks. Once I start driving it more it'll charge the battery nicely I'm sure.

Barry correct on some 928s ......some have switched power to the lighter some are always live .... test by pushing in the lighter with key off to see if it has power . There is an adapter available which can be attached to the jump start post to accept the plug from the Porsche battery maintainer . The maintainer automatically turns on and off to keep the battery up BUT not overcharge !

Harbor Freight sells the maintainer type charger that is waaay cheaper than the Porsche item and has reverse polarity protection which the Porsche item does not.

I actually tried the one from Harbor Freight......and to put it mildly......it sucked......got much too hot during operation in the summer and really seemed like it couldn't keep up if left more then a few weeks.
Got a hold of this one from Wal-Mart for about $20. I little bigger and stronger, can mount in or out of car, and comes with multiple hook up options. It has worked perfectly and has an indicator light as to when it is actually charging and not.........

I've had great luck with the Battery Tender line, especially the Jr for maintenance charging (winterizing) of my Harley batteries, and other things. I have it connected right now on the 928 under the hood. I am using the Jr model for maintenance during winter. It does a very nice job.

Passenger fender - There should be a black plastic box with a screw-on plastic acorn nut. Unscrew the plastic acorn nut cap to expose the jump start terminal. Use the crossbar attach bolts for ground.
