Default 924 Transmission Replacements

Tried search, could not find a past answer.

Other than the same year/model - '87 924S - anyone know what other transmissions can be used without any mods?

Maybe a LSD off a turbo? not sure but you can search for that.. I know a few people whove put it on their 944 NA..

Also you may want to post at the 944 discussion area too, that place is full of people...

Any early 944 tranny, or even the late ones but then you need to re-use the 2 mounts from your current tranny. In the later 944's i believe they had only one center mount compared to the two on the early cars and 944's. A 944 Turbo or S2 tranny would fit but again the mounts come into play. In fact a 968 tranny will also bolt up but you need different CV joints and mounts in that case.

Basically anything that has two mounts like yours will bolt right up, anything will one mount you will need to re-use the mounts you have now.

Where are you located? I may have a tranny for you if youre close enough...

Good Luck!

Yes, all those are the same.

Good luck with the tranny search. If you find one and want to know if anything special will be required to make it fit, like the mounts post the info here and ill let you know.

FYI....If you go with an early gear box you will NOT have the desired 5th gear in the late gear box. 968 gear box is heavier iirc.

It looks like I might be able to get a hold of a limited slip transaxle from an '84 944. Will this bolt right up?
