Coolant smell and smoke from AC

Coolant smell and smoke from AC
What would cause a car to have steam / smoke coming from vents when the AC is on?
A friend of mine called me up, to ask about this, and it has me stumped.

Hmm perhapes one of the condensation drains is blocked and is causing somthing to short out causing the smoke and steam. Also somtimes my car will have mist come out the vents which is perfectly normal, cold mist however.
