Hub adapter for Luisi steering wheel. 1988 951 with airbag
So I got my new steering wheel. Excited to put it on, and....the hub adapter won't fit. It doesn't slide on far enough to get the bolt back on. Not even close. And i dremeled off the little white airbag connector to get it to slide on all the way. Anyone know what adapter part number in need for this to fit? 5906 was the hub they sent me. And while I'm at it, any tricks in getting the horn to work? I know i have to ground it somewhere I believe. Thanks guys!!

I've never heard of that brand on these pages before. I had to google them. I don't know the hub adaptor/boss you've mentioned either...
I've just changed from a 968CS wheel, bought a momo prototipo and momo boss for my '86 and it took all of 5 mins to put together and install. The horn works fine, the indicator cancelling works fine.
Does the momo boss #7004 match your steering wheel bolt pattern?
Have you actually neutralised your airbag? if not:

This hub adapter will fit most 6 lug 2.75" (70mm) aftermarket steering wheels, such as MOMO, Isotta, Sparco, OMP, NRG and many others.

I'm not sure if the 7004 would work. I guess that is the question. If the 7004 works on your 86, will it work on my 88. Are the spines the same?? I understand I have to disabled the airbag, which the PO must have done because the airbag wasn't hooked up when I bought it. And no warning lights are on. (I discovered this when removing the wheel a year ago to do my dash lights) So, I'm gonna give the new hub a shot when it comes in. I'm thinking it should work the more I research. If not, I'd love to know if the Momo 7004 would work on my 88. I know the Luisi wheel bolts up fine to it. It's the same spec 6 bolt wheel as Momo ones. Thanks for the response my man.
Yes, the 7004 fits all late dash 944, 944 Turbo, 944S2 and 968.

I saw and looked over the Luisi wheels some time back. Nice looking with the wooden rim and all..Well finished. If you are looking for an adapter, and the wheel has one of these very large circular cut outs in the center with bolt holes all the way around, check out JBugs. They have several models for VW's at low prices. If Luisi can't find an adapter, time to find a machine shop that can broach the splines that will fit over steering shaft. Have you checked out the Grant adapters at your local FLAPS?? Perhaps they can be made to fit..Hope this helps some.

If you search ebay.uk you can find VW spline adapters that fit our cars that might make finding a hub adapter for your wheel easier. Part no: 191419514A
I used it to fit an NRG short hub adapter designed for an Audi on my car.
