Default WTB: new used 951 used

I was attempting to drill out a broken exhaust manifold stud and I went through the water jacket! So, does anyone have a good used head for my '89 951?

TIA

I'm just spit-balling, but are you set on a new head or have you looked at possible fixes?

Super ****-retentive fix would be to have a pro weld it shut and possibly lightly skim the head to make sure it is flat after welding if there was any warping (or just measure it).

You could also tap the entire hole and put a set screw (metal of your choice: I would go with stainless steel) into it and lather the threads with a high temp sealant. This is probably what I would do.

Good luck!

I have a 944 NA head that is all apart, As long as you install the correct Ex Valves you can run this head on a turbo. Not sure if you were the person that Rodger S. put out the SOS on e-mail for, BUT there is also a VERY good chance I can fix the head you have...

What's the ballpark cost of fixing the head? Does anyone know of a reputable machine shop in the South Bay Area that can do it?

Actually, just saw your profile and location. All of my recent problems stemmed from shipping my engine to an out of state builder and not being able to have that shop readily fix issues, so...

I see they do crank grinding...I wonder why their name never came up when I asked around a couple of years ago. The only place I found was Ed's Crankshafts.

Epoxy on the end of the new stud will seal the hole.

The end has been epoxyed with an oversized stud. Now onto fixing the leaking balance shafts/vibrations between 3k-4K rpms issue...

Thanks for all of the helpful options from EVERYONE on Rennlist. It definitely helped me make the best decision for my situation.
