Default 1987 951 brake booster - part number confusion

Hello everyone.

I have been stressed out for hours about my brake booster. I'm getting a car that has been sitting for 14 years back in business and having to replace lots of parts that I wasn't anticipating. The most recent is the brake fluid reservoir. Since I'm there, and it isn't much more work, I'm considering replacing my brake booster. My memory tells me I had to push quite hard on the brake pedal to get decent brake performance. This is my first 951 so maybe its fine, but again, since I'm there I'm considering it.

So, I looked up the part number and found it should be 944.355.011.01 from the parts list. However, my booster has an ATE label on it with 951.355.027 and the last two digits are missing. After looking everywhere, I found one on eBay that has that as 951.355.027.03 and titled "Porsche 968 944 Turbo S S2 - ATE Brake Booster - 951.355.027.03"

Can anyone clarify why that booster would be on my 1987 951 (with ABS). I can't find that part number anywhere else besides eBay which I totally don't trust.

Thanks, your help is much appreciated.

Default thanks

Thanks MAGK944. I see I inadvertantly grabbed the MC part number and not the brake booster part number. Thanks for setting me straight.

I still am curious why I would have the 951.355.027.03 part number booster on my car. Would that be considered an upgrade from a PO? Obviously the 951.XXX would show that its from a 944T car, but I can't find any of the 951 cars that use that part number. Or any car that uses that part number.

Seems like I should be replacing the booster on my car currently with the corrected part number for a 1987 951 w/ ABS.

I doubt there is any perceivable difference in function between the different part numbers, they may have simply changed numbers when they changed manufacturers, Girling/ATE.

booster should have a 944 part number since they are all the same regardless of model. (aside from girling vs ATE)
master cylinder there used to be different MC for i think NA/S vs S2/turbo but the part numbers superceded over the years so there is only one available now. the difference was in the front/rear circuit bore diameter but it's not a huge difference.
