Matched engine components from the factory
While pistons and blocks are matched for tolerance groups, my understanding is that the factory mates a block with its girdle and line bores the assembly.
If this is correct, suspect it would be wise, and highly recommended, to keep a block and its matching girdle together? And if not possible, then the non-matching block and girdle should be taken to a machine shop for proper alignment/boring?
Does the factory mate/bore blocks with balance shaft covers, as well?

Yes, block, griddle and balance shaft covers all have matching numbers stamped on them, if you mismatch them, bad things happen.

If you have a matching block and girdle, but non-matching/non-original balance shaft covers, should the BS covers be installed to the block and the cavity machined/bored for fit/alignment?
