So the previous owner never converted to R134a and the AC hasn't worked in years. I am considering converting it and charging it just to see if that's all it needs. If that doesn't fix it, I'll be pulling it out.
I am curious to hear more about that S2 intake conversion. Did you post your mod here in the forums?
I am planning to do a dyno run this Spring just to get baseline numbers.
You'll want a new receiver dryer and you'll want to drop the compressor to change the oil to Ester. Get the conversion adapters, pull a vac on it and see if it holds. I spent $100 on a vac pump, 50 on some cheap gauges and $7 on a can tap and they have been super worth it. I recharge if i get low on all 3 of my cars. Its paid for itself a few times now. My compressor started leaking last year but it was the o-rings on the top of the compressor. Easy fix with my tools and a new set of o-rings!
As for the s2 conversion, you need the intake, throttle cable, throttle body and the TB coolant hoses (if you need heat, only for winter use) From the S2. The S and S2 intakes are tuned a bit differently, the S runners are longer and the intake is magnesium. The S2 is more direct and feeds from the front, its aluminum. People like the S2 intake on it but i've never seen a dyno number comparing them. Not fully sure its better, or if its just different.
Where can you get hotter S2 cams or where can you send the stock ones for a regring?
Jon Milledge Engineering offers a variety of grinds. Web Cams does as well, I believe. And there are probably a couple other shops out there, I'm sure.
