I think the big holes above the wheel wells on the current LMP cars are there to address this problem.

They have solved this problem, both of those were a long time ago. Almost like asking why haven't we solved the F1 magnesium chassis problem?!?! But yes it would be quite disconcerting to be heading over a rise at speed and suddenly, involuntarily, be doing backflips. Webber said he'd never go back to Le Mans after the Mercedes take off, but Porsche got him back.

NCLA951,
Can you add any more information as to what caused the problems & the solutions for the problem? It certainly didn't look like driver error. If I'm not mistaken the main problem is mainly too much air gets underneath, no?

944crazy had it right, it's the large cutouts over the wheels that vent the undercarriage pressure as far as I understand it. I'm not an aero engineer just an avid fan but it seems inadvertent takeoffs have decreased since the addition of these vents.

Noah, your 944 wont flip like that but you may glide a tiny bit more if you go over bumps at over 100mph.

Large front and rear overhangs, and diffusers that start only at the axle line (not tunnels that start before, like current LMP cars).
Get in someone's draft, then you lose your front downforce; the rear wing has lots of leverage with the large rear overhang and the diffuser mouth centres much of the downforce on the rear axle which doesn't help.
The rear wing pushes the tail down and the nose up, then the underside catches the air, and once it hits about 5-7 degrees, at that speed it lifts right off
