Default Nord Lock Locking Washers

Just curious if anyone has tried these Nord Lock washers instead of the Stage 8 for the CV axle bolts?

I'm also interested in these, they seem like the best solution I've seen so far. Waste gate hardware too. I'm going to order some from my local supplier and give them a try.

I've used them on other cars (for brake calipers) - they seem to work pretty well.

Good to hear they have users with positive results. I saw them at Walmart $15 for 20 in M8 size, probably also have to buy longer bolts though to account for the washer thickness.

How much extra torque does it take to loosen them? Is it significant?

Looking back at that video they used a baseline 75kN force to tighten that nut and after the vibration test the clamping force dropped to 60kN. Then they loosened the nut which required a force of 65kN to overcome the ridges in the washer. So it looks like less than 5% above the clamping force is needed to loosen them.

I use schnoor washers now, solved my loosening problems at the CVs.

I too have these on my axles. Completely solved my constantly loosening CV cage bolts. Definitely worth the cost. I also replaced the 12pt cheese head with conventional Allen heads I picked both the bolts and nordlocks up at my local fastenal dealer.

I assume these are similar to the schnoor washers the factory used.

Schnoor were conical spring washers with ridges which relied on pressure and friction to lock in place. Not the same as Noor which rely on the relationship of the angle of the ridges to the angle of the screw thread. IIRC factory mainly used Schnoor washers to stop trim vibrating loose. I seem to recall dropping them when I've taken interior panels off.
