Yes I thought it was a cute article, in good old "Road & Track" magazine 40 years ago when I was aged 6! and although my passion then was F1 Racing car's ! who'd of thought 40 years later i'd of owned 9 front Eng. transaxles and learnt so much about them...(5 x 944's, 2 x 924's, 1x 968 & 1x 928)
The Description bottom right is interesting on the 911 comparison Dimensions.
I think it was the Dutch guy Harm Lagaay? that penned the 924 design?
I wonder if any comparison was made to the 911 at the time, the 924 roofline was lower, the car wider and had a longer wheelbase, also 2" Wider front v rear track.
It's been only recent models that the 911 wheelbase went longer, all the way up to 2012 (GEN 2 997) it was 2350mm, only the current 991 is 2450mm although it's wheelbase changes with electromechanical actuators which shorten it below 31mph and lengthen it over 50mph!
I often wondered if the 968 replacement the first Gen 986 Boxster's wheelbase was exactly the same as the 924 944 & 968 (2400mm) for a good reason?

Ok. that was also a VW combined effort I think ?
So a design in the 1960's is the same as the current model 911 (991), but
the only car to follow the 2400mm sizing as the 24/44/68 is the Boxster 986.
Even the 4WD 959 was shorter at (2272mm)
