When adjusting the AC tensioner you need to loosen the 13mm bolt at the engine block end, the 17mm bolt attaching the tensioner to the compressor, and the 2 17mm bolts that the compressor hangs from...otherwise too much resistance/friction which can break the part.
I don't see vibration being a problem for those parts.

Vibration is wrong for the 944, if it does not go away above 2-3K RPM then it's probably not the engine mounts. It could be a misaligned balance shaft sprocket, lots of people get these wrong as it is somewhat counter-intuitive.
Do not drive the car, vibration can break your oil pump pickup and cause a loss of oil pressure, and you know where that goes.
If you have ever used an impact gun or an air hammer you can see what vibration is capable of, a lot more force than you think if you keep at it.

Well this weekend I took the part again and found that my motor mounts are shot. They are the old style hydraulic mounts - maybe the orginals? It was a pain to get them out but the right side was separated and dried out. The left side was still in tact. Regardless, I replaced them and bolting back together. Thanks to all who helped me restore my car.

Check your AC mounting bolts. I had an issue with broken AC tensioner rods and it turned out to be a missing AC mounting bolt in the back. Every time the AC clutch engaged, it twisted the AC compressor enough to break the tensioner. I replaced that bolt and all is good.
FYI, Getting to that bolt can be a SERIOUS PITA if it is broken off which mine was.

Ding Ding Ding!! I found a broken ear on the rear of the compressor housing so my compressor was only being held by the front belt. Going with the AC delete option for the short term. Thanks guys.
