Default Spindle Clamping Nut Material?

Does anyone know what material the front spindle clamping nut is? Steel, obviously, but does anyone know grade or hardness?

Thanks

Probably something similar to C41xx. Likely pretty damn hard since it's probably heat treated. Why do you ask?

Can you list your sources or reasoning for conjecture? Asking for H2 embrittlement related reasons.

You could "bake out" the hydrogen but to do it properly you would have to know the tensile strength or hardness. Are your concerns with environmental conditions or welding? I am not sure there will be any conclusive evidence for alloy, plating, or heat treat for that particular part. It may just be a best guess from general fasteners. What are your plans?
