Balance shaft collar fitment
I tried to install the balance shaft collars (the steel flanged rings that the front oil seals ride on) on my project engine and ran into issues. On the upper B shaft, too tight. On the lower, too loose. These are the same part # (early engine) and I've swapped them with the same results. Brand new from Paragon. Is there are recommended approach here?
I tried putting one in the oven and slipping it over the upper shaft (The one that's too tight) and got nowhere. The lower shaft is loose to the point where the seal would hold the collar still, while the shaft rotated. Any ideas?
Edit: took measurements
Upper shaft OD - 0.919" (23.34 mm)
Lower shaft OD - 0.906" (23.01 mm)
Collar #1 ID: 0.902" (23.91 mm)
Collar #2 ID: 0.911" (23.14 mm)

Mylar seals are in place and all. I'm just not excited about the collar, it gets stuck on the first few millimeters of the shaft even after I get it hot. I'll try returning one and seeing if a replacement fits better.

This thread has more info about seal and race sizes between early and late cars

Also, FWIW i measured 8 balance shafts, all the shafts measured between .910" and .912".

I took more measurements and it looks like I just got a defective collar. Once I filed down a burr (almost too small to see) on the keyway, one collar was able to slip onto both shafts.
