Trying to put a muffler in place of the muffler delete pipe.
pieces won't separate :-(
I could put a clamp on the end and have a buddy hammer it clockwise but I need something like a oil filter band that will clamp to the other end to hold it in place,
any ideas?
Oh, and there are no markings on the magnaflow muffler and it is perfectly symmetrical. How do you determine the inlet and the outlet since both are the same diameter?

Sawzalls work wonders on exhaust pipes. Or if you really need to separate maybe a strap wrench to counter-hold it. Or heat, as those things can get seriously fused together (hence the Sawzall...) As for the muffler, I think it depends -- some are directional and some are not... Do you know the model number?

i recently had the same problem, even my 26" breaker bar was no match for the rusted fasteners. The nuts laughed at the 3/8" impact. I even thought I was going to have to beat a hasty retreat after the 1/2" impact came out, but I hung on and finally sheared the M8 bolts in half ![Smilie](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
I replaced with stainless and copper nuts and used antisieze.

You need a tail pipe chisel. Cut the straight pipe. If you want to hold the rest of the exhaust you could use an extra muffler clamp and a piece of metal.
