Default Picked up another 951

Re: a link to a local ad last Friday- A friend just bought this one last night for $4600.

http://www.practicaldriver.com/vg.html

We checked it out well, it's well tuned and drives excellent, and has many upgrades not mentioned in the ad. The Guru MAP Stage 1 runs flawless and the hand-held unit is included. If I didn't like mine so much I would be a bit jealous. The body is near perfect. The only known issues with the car are:

1. Oil pressure sending unit bad-found a new one in the rear well
2. Slight leak at rear cam seal
3. Sunroof non-op, airbox duct flap hot-cold syndrome, rear hatch release not working right.

All and all I think he ended up with a great deal, the owner was a nice guy and really up front and knowledgeable about the car; that always helps. It's also good to see someone who is concerned about selling the car to an enthusiast also.

My friend is happy...after 2 long rides in my 86 his search for a 951 was on...says he'll never cross back to the Acura set!

That's a pretty good deal. But is my eye playing tricks or do I see some sort of windshield damage about the passenger end?

Wow! $4600 for a sweet looking Turbo like that! High miles, but with the engine re-build...a great deal! Sweet color combo too--love the diamond blue with the black/tan interior!!

Your friend could put another $5k into the car and STILL have a great deal!

I was just mentioning the things we found wrong that weren't noted in the ad. If you look at that last link in the ad's web page it clearly shows the windshield damage. It's looks worse than it is, no cracks radiate from it, even though it's the biggest "rock chip" I've seen in awhile. I have two spare windshields and a rear deck glass at home so I'll probably sell him one.

I see the a-pillar with the boost guages running. The color is beatiful. Also, the seats look like they are in great shape. But, I have to say with an engine rebuild you got a pretty good deal. Good luck with the entire thing.

Yesterday was smog day for the seller...not bueno! Seems the Guru Stage 1 MAP upgrade is running way rich at idle...(high HC and CO) dynos fine at 2500 rpm. The Lindsey BE flunked visual(vac line mod)...K&N passed. We are pulling the chips, BE, and putting the stock air box back on Saturday for retest...shouldn't be a problem after that. My 86 passed fully chipped with flying colors. The PO said low rpm mapping was clean on the last check 18 months ago. Ah, the cost of power.

951s. You've got to love them. What other Porsche can put you in the 300 HP neighborhood for under $5K?
