Hell yes! Every pit stop we threw the fan on to pull heat out of the bay. It was hot, as you can tell...

You can run the fans full time by jumpering the temp switch plug...

We are running in chump with out 944 and are running into the same issues you are regarding heat. We've done 2 races on the stock oil/water cooler and are in the process of upgrading to a turbo oil cooler for our next race.

I actually just bought an oil sump temp gauge, so I won't have any before/after comparisons but if you rea through my race recap you'll see our oil pressure started dropping during the day when it got to its hottest, and thats what I've been using as my measurement. We only dropped to 2.5 bar though, never got low enough that the oil pressure light came on.

At this point we are trying to work on getting our pit stop time down so we haven't been opening the engine long enough to affect any sort of cool down. I'm hoping that the addition of the external oil cooler and maybe some front ducting is enough to bring the temps down to a reasonable area.

We are running middle of the pack for 944s in our region right now, trying to get faster. Short 5th gear is next on our list.
