Default Need help asap - Fixed now...thanks

got my friends car all taken apart in the parking lot right now. We were working on changing the brake pads, but can't get the pads pushed back enough to clear the rotors. Any tips on how to push the pads back? We tried just prying htem with a big screwdriver....no real luck. So I then loosened the bleed valve, still can't pry it. Any other tips on how to push it back in?

Get them on there as best you can. Somewhat at an angle so the tops clear the rotor and take a hammer under there and lightly tap on them until the calipers get over the rotors. That's what I had to do and they work great.

It did. Just kinda wedged a wrench in there just right so we could tap it back a bit with teh hammer....then finally got a corner of the caliper started & finally got it all setup.

Now gotta go out tomarrow & do the other side & bleed the brakes (no brake fluid left to do it with what's left....figure might as well do a flush while we're doing it).

If its a NA car lift up on the outer most part of the caliper then the pads should slip right in!

I basically apply the same rule to any car I work on. If it doesn't fit right then beat the hell out of it until it does.

8" C clamp leave old pad on piston side and slowly clamp down on it with the cap off of the master cylinder.. Taking the cap off is key. this also prevents you from gouging the caliper cylinder with the piston.. just an FYI..
