If it's track only, you're definitely going to want to go with a smaller rim.

I know you're not going to paint your rims black!

Why would a smaller rim be better for the track?

Tried and tested. In fact a recent article in Eurotuner took a car to Willow with three sets, 15, 16, and 17 inch rims, with tires that gave each combo the same outer dimensions, The 15s gave them seconds (not tenths) faster for a lap. The feedback eas the larger wheels seemed more sure around the corners (less flex in the sidewalls), but the 15s allowed the car to acclerate quicker out of the corners, providing higher top speeds on the straights and faster lap times overall. The moral of the story: Big wheels=Street, OEM 15s=Race.

What were the relative weights of the three wheels tested? I have two sets of 17" (BBS and Fikse) wheels that are significantly lighter than my 16" Turbo S wheels. Acceleration and track speeds are better on the bigger wheels.

I'd bet that was also too low for track use...

Yeah but it's got NOS. That'll make up for the seconds lost by the "dubs".

Oh yeah, don't forget the lighted windshield washers. Easily worth a few seconds themselves.

Did they happen to list the wheel/tire combination weights for the various sizes?

Too much "Bling! Bling!" for me, even on a track car.

Now a checkered flag design would fit the bill for me!
