We're about the same size. I've wondered if the exagerated side bolsters of sport seats would be uncomfortable. Thanks for the feed back.

Anybody know if early manual SPORT seats sit you lower to the floor than standard seats?

I don't get the sense they do as I move from one '84 to another or even from the '82 built car with manual factory Sport Recaros to a regular production seat of another early car.....

I am 6.0'' and weigh around 250 and have no issues fitting in the seats what so ever. With or without a raised hub wheel (which brings the steering up and closer, and off the knees) in either an early sport seat OR a regular production standard seat. Both of Porsche origin.

I have a 36-38 inch waist and fairly broad shoulders and those nice bolsters really grab me tight, but after a few short miles I don't notice them at all as being restrictive or tight. They are perfect for my form. The view from behind the wheel seems to be at about the same elevation to the road and equal distance above the hood line.

Late 944/911 sport seats hands down, nice big bolsters and comfortable even on long drives.

Yes they do but not by much . Also late seats are lower than any early seats.

I've never sat in a late 944 without having my head actually touching the sunroof/headliner.

Though I don't know if any of the late cars have been manual seats or not...but what is the difference, if any, between early/late manual seats (aside from the seatbelt and 6 vs 4 bolt mount?)

Pretty sure the answer is no. I had a set of early manual seats and their offset from the rails was nothing unusual, although I didn't take measurements. I have another set coming soon (unless the seller flakes) and I can take actual measurements.

Yes i'm pretty sure , i had early sport ,late comfort and sport and sat in several 924's with early comfort seats . In the 924's i never had any head room ,those are the tallest.
Late seats were never manual on the driver side ,only the passenger side but either way i found them to be the lowest of all both sport or comfort. Also all my late seats had great foam so that doesnt really factor in.

The frame and foam shape is totally different ,they have nothing in common.
I also had apart many type of seats , early, late ,manual ,electric,full electric, i know my seats

The seats are constructed entirely different with a sort of 'pull-out center section' that is separate from the construction of the side bolsters on the series one cars sport seats. The side bolster is definitely a bit more aggressive and maybe a bit narrower in width, but the height feels the same. The feeling the seat bottoms empart to the human sitting in them, equates to a VERY comfortable feeling of a separate seating section somewhat free of the side bolster. The series two sport seat doesn't give that sensation to the driver, but more of a feeling of 'oneness'.

I went out to my garages and took a good look at them in comparison. The series 2 seat is constructed as a one piece unit with definitive side bolsters and to me, seemingly a bit of a lower side edge on the lower squab.

There shouldn't be much difference between the two examples I just compared, as they are only 4 years apart and only 20,000 miles ( 28,000 on the #2 and 20 more on the #1) different in usage..... they are in exquisite shape showing the care prior owners gave them, so I don't think one would say either one is 'worn in' or broken down more than the other. I didn't measure them, but sitting in them is a very different feel due to the singularity of the series 2.

They are BOTH great seating positions. Just a slight difference in the feeling of the bolsters grabbing your sides of thighs and rib cage.

The series one and two regular production seats are entirely one piece lower and one piece upper.

You are the original owner (I believe?) so your word is strong but I've never seen an EARLY "normal" manual seat with the separate lower cushion...only the SPORT seats I've seen have the separate cushion.

Even a March/1982 build date car I did a lot of work on had "one piece" lower cushion but I don't know it's seat history.

My car is a Dec/1984 and the original seat covers were "one-piece" as well.

What I am looking for is the lowest possible "butt section" in a 944 type seat, with full manual adjustment.
I am currently contemplating cutting out the factory "mounting pads" from the floorboard and mounting the driver seat directly to the floor (1/2" height loss)
I may even remove the slider mechanism, to drop another 3/4" or so.

I am 6'6" and in a comfortable driving position my head is maybe 1/4" or so from touching the sunroof panel, and I hit it when going over bumpy roads (which in a car with 26mm torsion bars, is ALL roads )

I have early manual seats with collapsed lower seat foam so I am sitting even lower than a "freshly upholstered" seat would be.

V2, I thought you were speaking to the sport seats, not the regular production flat upper and lowers.
I tried to amend and clarify the above post to reflect that.

In that case, to clarify my comment... between early "comfort" seats and early "sport" seats, I did not see a difference. Late seats have sat higher because of the electronic and all.

Sport seats are overrated!

To answer the question in the original post... No in all seriousness, I'm sure they're great but if I had to upgrade I'd probably end up with color matched (burgundy), scripted Recaro Pole Positions over the Sports money no object.

I did vote Recaro but these do look pretty killer, especially for the money.. Maybe I'll have to pick up a set of these and get them reupholstered.
