Man, the only complaint I think I'd have is that if my dash looked that good, I'd worry that I'd need to go another notch or two past that and redo the door cards and get the plastic center console covered the same way.

That looks really great. I would love to have my dash done by Classic 9, and I believe they're even local to me. One day, once all the mechanical things are fresh and nice...

FWIW, the box was barely able to ship USPS. If it was 1/4" taller, they would have turned me away. So for anyone shipping an early dash on the cheap, make it snug.

 

Great price for the total quality and I'm guessing longevity.

 

Looks great..I still have the cheesey plastic thingy I recently discovered..The sight below it was enough to turn my stomach..So it'll be the cheesy plastic thing for a while..

 

The glovebox is a little wonky. But overall, looks good.

 

What is their quote for doing it in leather ?

Why pay the extra money for the center speaker delete ? I know it's a personal thing, but it also would lend a bit more of an 'original' look to it. Just curious.

Did you check with the postal orifice on shipping. As far as I know there is not a restriction on the length of this approximation. Only on weight.

 

Because the center speaker is ugly and useless on US 944s...WGAF about originality?

Leather is a $100 premium. I actually originally requested leather, but Rob (the guy behind Classic 9) recommended I do vinyl because it would have a more original-looking pattern to match the door cards and such.

I deleted the center speaker because I personally think it's hideous, good riddance... there wasn't a speaker there. I've deleted it on all my other dashes and think it looks great.

USPS does limit based on dimension. I remember trying to ship a 951 bumper through them, didn't go well...

 

I can't believe how good that looks. Makes me want to put an old dash in my turbo.

 

Just need the word Porsche embroidered on it and you'd be set. Lol

 

That really looks great! How long did it take to reinstall the dash? Don't know if I would've had the courage to tackle that job. Would probably forget where half the parts and wires go.

Also, It is hard to tell from the photos, but does classic 9's dash vinyl match the doors?

About the center speaker cutout. FWIW I plan to mount a couple 2" tweeters under the grill. They will fit nice and should really enhance the sound clarity since the high frequency sound always sounds better when it is at ear level or higher. I plan to point them up a bit so some of their output bounces off the windshield. Mid and especially low frequency sound doesn't degrade when the source is lower than your ears. But when the highs come at you at ear level and higher the definition and clarity are so much better.

Lfisher, it varies depending on your familiarity with all the parts you have to decouple. Having never done it before, I'd budget an afternoon... It's not a hard job, just a little tedious sometimes (mostly for reassembly). I wouldn't let the labor of swapping the dashes be a concern - it's well worth the effort this is the 4th dash I've had in this car, I can pull it in 20 mins and install in 30 if I had to. Realistically it's an hour or so, taking time and having a few cold friendlies in between.

 

Most definitely! There are some hideous examples of thee cars on YouTube where the owners plastered "Porsche" on ever damn thing they could. The only thing uglier is seeing people do that with "Ferrari" on kit cars.
