Default Oil cooler replacement

I am replacing the gaskets/O rings on my '84 944, is it recommended to use gasket sealer on the housing when using the integrated gasket?
I cleaned the housing gasket grove very well making sure there were no pits or scaling left for the gasket seal.

No.
Just clean the surfaces really well and use the supplied rubber/metal gasket.
