Default Were there 944 side decals from dealerships?

Hi,
I have tried to research whether "Porsche" side stripe decals were available as a dealer installed option on 944s when the cars were sold new? I haven't been able to come up with much and certainly no pics of what period-correct decals would have looked like. I'm seriously considering black side decals for my '86 Kalahari beige with black fuchs. But only if they were available back when the car was new from the dealer. Does anyone know if side decals for 944s were available from the Porsche dealership network in the 80s? Or do you have any pictures? Thanks kindly.

I don't know if this is original, or period-correct. But it's a picture.

It's an '88 944 NA. "Celebration" (anniversary) edition with the grey plaid interior.

I'll say it again, I LOVE that black and yellow!!! I could look at that car all day....

Celebration edition Race car..... that's different!

I have also searched about this too. I don't think it was ever factory, these seem to come from the land of 70's 911's. I'm sure a dealer could have ordered them, abet for a 911, and slapped them on a 944.

The above is in the 911's location. With the bottom of the decal lining up with the bottom of the door...

On the 944 I like the decals better UNDER the door. But I've yet to be able to google up the positive color two stripe design (as above) used under the door. The negative color designed one I've seen under the door, and I like it a lot too. Been kicking this around....

Negative color under the door:

The problem with mounting a Porsche stripe under the door like the pic above comes down to visual perspective. If you follow the natural body lines then in front of the rear wheels the stripe appears to point down at about a 10* angle. Doesn't look right, even though it is still perfectly level. To do it the right way, you have to carefully stretch the vinyl so that it visually appears level. BTDT on a previous 944 and learned my lesson. For our 944S, we put the side stripes above the door line, below the rub strip and it looks really good.

That's weird, I get the opposite effect, at least in pictures. The one's above the door line look all askew to me, and the ones below it look straight. Must be different in person.

I am not aware of any of these being offered by Porsche back in the day.....

I used to peruse the parts micro-fiche' at the local dealership back in the 80's with the parts guys I was friends with, and never saw them available. I DO remember them as after market pieces sold thru Auto Atlanta or Pelican or a few other old catalogue marketers in the '80s and early '90s. The guys who sold fake wood appliques for interior trim, gear shift *****, steering wheels, painted center caps and the like.

Didn't care much for the look of these door stripes personally so never had an interest, BUT when the CUP series came forward with the introduction of the 944 turbo / 951 model, Rothmanns had a color stripe very much to my liking. But those were race cars and different in my mind.

( by the way when I found my '74-2.0 litre Sunflower teener back in '94, these were applied to it very early on it's life, but were the NEGATIVE imprint. I still didn't like them a whole lot and removed them when I repainted the car in it's original color. ( had to, there was a whole passenger side of door dings and paint so thin and weathered as the low mile car had been left in a position inside a garage which bleached the one side of the car differently than the other due to garage windows facing southwest. Fortunately it had a half top Carbrella cover over the windshield so interior was unaffected, but the side facing the daily driver parking next to it got whacked each time it came in the garage ----- HUGE eyeroll )

You could get them on the larger rocker panels through Exclusive. Presumably you could get the decal without the rocker panel.
