Lightbulb Getting back into a 944

I have been thinking of getting back into 944s again, but for strictly a dedicate track car. I have been scouring craigslist for good deals, which usually involve a lot more work than intended.

944 Spec series cars are great examples of what I am looking for as I would prefer a car with no interior and don't have the time to put the car on a diet between work and family.

For those of you with Spec cars or stripped out racers, what are your experiences with these cars?

Buy a 944 with a rough paint job and drop it off at Lart's...
let him strip the interior and unnecessary stuff for you, for him to sell...then pick up your gutted car later with some spare parts

I live in Seattle but rent a garage at Thunderhill raceways in Willows, Ca.
I have 2 944 Spec cars and fairly new to racing. In Seattle I work with Fordahl Motorsports building these cars . They are great with the 944s. Not sure what your final goals are but to me there is a sweet spot that you seem to get the biggest bang for your dollar buying used. I have built both of my cars with the help from fordahl and Ill tell you in the end with all the cool stuff the car cost around $25K to build . The used price on that car in my opinion would be $15K most. The national auto car that just sold is a good example . It was top of line , recomended by all but took a while to sell at $15K
The two below cars are priced lower than 10K
The Seattle one looks old and tired and who knows what about the cage.
The DC one looks like something to take a chance on and ship it.
what is your goals with the car and how much you want to do yourself.
I know of a top of the line build started in Seattle at Fordahls shop that all the hard stuff has been done but its not cheap. Hope tpo see you out.
In the bay area Golden Gate PCA rules. Our first event is March 13th. We could really use some more 94 turn out.
See pic of my car

Found a car in SD. I am having a relative check it out for me this week. My wife and I decided we also want a Martini livery applied to the car. She suggested it.

Well this deal isn't working out and the seller is unresponsive to a request to view the car. Time to move on.

He's got a new shop, and a few 944s that are slowly coming apart laying around.

Got the news I have to cough up some money to the IRS. Track car is going to have to wait for a little bit.
