I wanted to say hello and introduce myself to the forum. I just bought a 1990 944 S2 and my idea is turn it into a street legal track car.

I would love to start one of those fantastic project treads I’ve seen here but unfortunately I don’t have the time and space to work on it myself. The car is in a shop right know, next week they will wash it completely and put it on a lift to see what needs to be addressed.

I’ll probably need advice and you expertise and I’ll be happy to collaborate with whatever I can.

Cheers,
David

Thanks Michael,

Do you know where to buy a windshield? Mine is cracked

Also my driver side door handle is broken and I saw on ebay repair kits for $30, I don't know if those salvage yards on north sheppherd will have any 944 parts.

Unsure about anywhere local, I generally buy parts online, although I know of an early 944 in a local junkyard (12575 Hiram Clarke Rd, Houston, TX 77045) if you need anything it may have. It has the door handles removed, the last time I was there they were in on the passenger seat but who knows.

Saw this guy today, kind of rare to see them around here. I have only seen one other 944 besides this in weeks.

Is a 1990 S2, about 130000 miles, but odometer broke at 112000. Is not an "M030" option car, mostly original other than the cone type air filter and a custom exhaust. Has 18" 993 wheels installed but I also have the original 16" D90s.

I forgot to write down all the options but I think the color is Diamant blau met, it has a re-spray on top of the original paint that does not look good but I haven't wash it or polished yet.

According to carfax always been in the Houston area, had 3 owners and no accidents. The last owner had it for 11 years but didn't take much care of the car on the last 5 years and stop driving it about a year ago, just park it outside on the driveway.

The interior is a complete mess, PO cover the dashboard with some suede and then ripped it off so you can see glue on top of the original blue dash.

I only drove it from the PO's house to the shop, about 10 miles and the engine, clutch, transmission and brakes all feel good, although I didn't go above 3000 RPM due to old oil.

I'm not driving it yet, I want to replace all belts and rollers and basic maintenance on the engine and I'll probably do a full upgrade on the suspension. The guys on my shop will give me an estimate soon.

I always wanted a 944 so I'm very excited about it.

Cheers,
David

Thank you!
The full tune up will start next week. After we get the new belts installed we will see how strong the engine is... fingers crossed

Hi, all! Jumping in to introduce myself as another Houston Rennlister. I'm in the Memorial Heights area, along Buffalo Bayou. I've got an Ocean Mist Blue Metallic 87 N/A. We should all meet up sometime soon.
