This car is kicking my ***
Got it running today after 13 weeks of sitting (mostly from me being busy with school)
Things done in the past 6 weeks:
Head gasket
rebuild head
oil cooler seals
AOS seals
exhaust manifold gaskets
wire wheeled pistons to clean carbon
intake manifold gaskets
new intake manifold
replace all vacuum lines
replace all coolant hoses
all new hose clamps
replace both water neck gaskets
replace all cam tower seals
replace all balance shaft seals and front crank seals
replaced thermofan switch
new water pump
helicoiled all stud holes for WP
all new WP studs and hardware
new thermostat
new fuel lines
rebuilt throttle body
+4* advance cam key
new intake J boot
Fired it up today, it's pissing water from a split in the driver side radiator and it's pissing water from the freeze plug in the block just behind the water pump.
Also the block is cracked and pissing out water on the DME temp sender boss where the head gasket gets compressed onto. I tried to seal it in place with Quicksteel and it's still leaking.
I need support Rennlist...this car is whooping my ***. :b anghead::ban ghead:

Sometimes when crap like this happens I need to walk away from the project and take a few days off. Sounds like you have done an excellent job with the car so far so don't beat yourself up too much, as these things do happen! Hope you get her on the road soon and don't forget we got your back if you need some help!

Thanks for the encouragement. Yeah, I've done a lot of work to it. I just popped the freeze plug out of my spare block, I'll have to pull the water pump to replace it. Can I reuse the gasket? I ran for less than 5 minutes since being installed.

As long as the gasket isn't damaged when removed you should be ok. Since this is such a big job, I would spend the money on a new gasket. I sure would hate to button everything back up only to find the water pump is now leaking. I can't remember what the gasket cost me when I did the water pump, but remember it being rather inexpensive. Is it worth the risk to you?

Yeah..just make certain that the freeze plug isn't halfway rusted through. Use some RTV and you'll be OK. Just be glad it's not putting oil in the water too! Good luck my friend! I feel your pain!

It's cold, it's wet outside...I'm putting on my war face and going to go yank the pump.
I'm a college student and I do all my work in a parking lot with hand tools and a god damn $2 china head lamp. I'm a glutton for punishment it seems.

I feel for you bud! My coolant T's and water pump failed on my Cayenne and boy was it tough getting that stuff apart when its 30 degrees in the garage. What are the temps in Texas these days? I use to live in Houston in the 80s and remember texan's definition of "cold" was anything under 60 degrees.

I may have a 944 radiator for you. I have to see if it leaks first. I'm switching to 951 radiators. I'll send it to you Tuesday if it is good. Just pm me a shipping address after I confirm. I'll let you know. You may be able to drain the block, take off the head(which sucks), and as much as I don't wan't to say this you can JB weld the crack by the temp sensor from the inside and use a heat gun to work it into the crack and work the epoxy thru the crack from inside out. Yes I know but it's better then a new used block. A freeze plug is easy compaired to the cracked block.

The freeze plug looked ok actually.
You can see where I tried to repair the damaged area. The head gasket isnt getting clamped properly
Aaaaaand the freeze plug actually looked ok, turns out two of the studs I installed pulled the helicoils out of the block, which probably wasnt letting the pump sit flush and was causing the leak.

Well that's semi good news. I'll let you know about the radiator when I get home this weekend. And you can use red locktite on the helicoil. Locktite only dries without oxygen present. That's why all locktite bottles are half full when new. If you were to fill them all the way up and cap the bottle it would be as hard as a rock by morning. Been there done that! Got the lesson at a hydraulic cylinder fabricators shop (siarra hydraulics).
