Default Need a Radiator

Title says it all. Looking for a radiator for my '89 2.7 944, standard transmission.

Would like to find a good used one, if anyone happens to have one laying around. (Not really hopeful, as I went through 3 used ones while trying to replace the one in my 951. Eventually bit the bullet and went new, but you never know...)

LMK.

Thanks.

Used radiators generally don't work out well. Unless they were stored with liquid in them they have a tendency to leak at the side caps.

I replaced my brothers radiator with my turbo back up unit and had to steal the support from my 951. Bought two more 951 lower radiator supports from Lart. I just ordered the 56mm aluminum unit from China. Yea I know. But I've look up one rennlist post already and it worked out after 6 hours of installed time and some radiator fan assy modifications because the radiator is so thick. Then my current turbo radiator is going in my 86 944 to replace its leaking radiator.

personally id just bite the bullet and go with an aftermarket aluminum radiator. less replacements involved.

If you get a turbo radiator make sure you get a 951 lower radiator support because it's differant then the 944N/A's and a fan shroud because the whole turbo radiator setup is taller.

Sneaking in here to say I also need a new Rad, whats the word on quality, is it worth 2x price increase to take the Porsche part vs an OE supplier part? I can find replacements ranging from 400 to 800 shipped to me.

Kinda hard to argue with Porsche quality. Picture of label on box.

I assumed the Original poster will take that one. If you have more, or he passes then i'm interested. You'd have to be willing to ship it to Vancouver, British Columbia though.

A lot of junkyards won't even sell a used radiator. Too many start leaking in a short time.

Before I got another plastic tank radiator I would look at all the 100% aluminum units first. The only failures I have seen on all the Porsche 944/951 radiators have been the plastic end tank seal to aluminum body leaking.
