Default i don't know whats wrong with my car?

I was just driving normal, and i heard a ugly pop. After that, i could put the car in gear, but then when i left up off the clutch, no matter how high i rev, the car dies. what could be the problem? i looked under the car and found nothing obvious.

check around the CV joints, this is where mine cracked the casing of the transmission.

Is it for the 944 or the 951? that makes a 1000 dollar difference.

One possibility you can check to see if this is the case. You may have shredded your original rubber clutch and it has jammed up in the housing? Shut the car of put it in first gear let the clutch out and see if your can push the car. If not remove the starter and look inside the clutch housing and see what is in there.

If it where the transmission the car wouldn’t even idle with the clutch out in neutral. The but then again I suppose this also would apply to first gear as well. Huh. We may need more info.

like i said, i looked under there and saw no cracks or anything around the driveshafts, and there seems to be no problem there. basically, when i put it in first gear, it just immediately dies when i let off the clutch. oh and even when its in gear i can push it and it will move. does this mean its the tranny? by the way its the na, not the turbo, phew.

That aint good

Hmm,
May be it is the clutch. As it seems like you can get it in gear, but something keeping the engine from turning.

Well as I think even more I am not sure.

The Clutch does seem to be doing something as clutch in vs out has an effect.

You can get it in gear as well. The car rolls when in gear so you don;t have connection through the rear wheels to anything solid.

I guess I am not sure how these cars fail as I would guess that a broken tranny means either no drive and free wheeling at the tires & engine or neither the engine or wheels turn in gear.

Well you can pull the tranny and check the drive shaft. Obviously it should turn with the clutch in and should not with the clutch out. If it seems to work then your tranny is probably bad.

May be...
A vacuum (spelling) hose is broken and when engine gets under load it dies. I had a similar situation happen - in my case an S-shaped host from cold start valve to intake manifold cracked...

If the car rolls in gear with clutch disengaged (down), and can moved while in gear with clutch engaged (up), your transmission should be fine...

Hope this helps.
Thanks

I had broken pieces from my ring and pinion jamming things up. my car then would not move no matter what gear I was in.

I second that broken ring and pinion but when that happened to my cousin's car, we eventually couldn't push the car in any gear as the broken tooth jammed the ring from turning and causing the axle not to spin. Does it go into reverse or any other gear? You can narrow down the possiblities by doing that to figure whether its the clutch or tranny.

When you heard the pop, were you still going? Or did it stop right there? If you were still moving... maybe the shift lever thing broke, and you are stuck in 5th?
