Default Un-noticed Dents?? or Factory Standard?

Hello. Recently I noticed around the bottom skirt of my 944, if you go to about the middle of the door, and go all the way down, there is a diamond shaped dent. One on each side, same spot, middle of the car at the bottom. I never noticed this, until after my car was serviced for transmission work. However, the shape is perfectly diamond, and there are no scratches around the dents. (might take pictures if I am stumping people).

I thought the place I had it serviced used a weird lift, and could have damanged it, but once I took a look at their lifts, there seems no chance in that, but the mechanic thought it was his fault, and refered me to a body shop, where they said it was manufactured like that, probably during production to hang on a rack. (mass production)

Anyone know if this is true? Or have these dent marks, which I never noticed, even though I hand wash the car??? Oh well..
btw, its a 1986 944 NA

Those are "arrows" that point to where the pump jack should be positionned under the car.

Oh, if the mechanic that you took your car to did not know that those diamonds were factory, then I would start worrying about the quaility of work on your car.

Hmm.. heh That is funny how the mechanic didn't know what they were. Funny however that I never noticed them either. And funny how he thought they could have done it to my car, and was willing to have it fixed at a body shop. lol
Anyhow, thanks for the info!!
