Default New to me sport seats.

I stumbled upon a set of original sport seats and have been slowly bringing them back to life. I have attached a few photos of them for future reference as I was having a hard time find a set of covers for them. My local upholster told me to stay away from a few very high end vendors (will not name names). In the end, I ended up rebuilding them myself and bought the covers from Kyle at Only944.com. They are very nice quality and fit surprising well in my opinion.

Sorry about the missing side trim in the first photo, this was before the seat was 100% done.

They look great. Sport seats, while potentially pricey, are one of my favorite upgrades I have done to my own 944.

Nice job; I'm looking for a set of sport seat cores to recover as well...also for a linen interior (if anyone has a set or lead on some).

They look great! Is this the grey beige (color code LQ) interior?

Looks good! I recently redid a set of early sport seats with covers from only944 as well. They were much higher quality than I expected and fit quite well.

Hey SloMo228, would you share your recovered early sport seats with the group? I would love to see them, and see the quality of the Only944 covers on early seats.

Agreed! I'm planning on picking up a semi-custom set of early sport covers from Kyle here in a few months, so it'd be nice to see what he's put together. If it's at all in keeping with the shift **** I ordered from him, it should be nice...

I have early and late sport seats that need to be re-covered, good to know Only944's kits are this nice!

I'd also like to see the redone early seats.

No problem. I can upload a few pictures when I get home. I had them made in black and red with French seams instead of the piping. It's definitely not a factory look, but I like the splash of color and it was nice that they were able to make the seat covers to order.

Here are my early sport seats with only944 covers:

I'm pretty pleased with them. They didn't come out 100% perfect, but my seats did have some wear and tear so the foam didn't fill them out quite as much as it would have when new. I expect that most of the wrinkles (there are only a few) will fall out after some use.

The material feels like a high-quality vinyl, soft to the touch and fairly easy to work onto the seat.

The installation took me about 6-8 hours total for both seats, and that was including some foam repair. The instructions on only944 are for the late seats, but they give you enough of a general idea to figure out how to do the early seats as well. It's really fairly straightforward.

Nice! Glad to see some adventuresome colors, too. What did you do for foam repair, if you don't mind me asking? There's a pretty big hunk out of the drivers seat upper bolster that I'm not sure how to go about fixing the damage since replacement foam isn't available anymore.

Basically, I bought some high-density foam from a local shop. I cut out the damaged parts of the seat with a razor and glued in a chunk of the new foam that was cut larger than the old piece I removed. Then, I shaved it down with a razor until it was close enough to the original contour. After I did the foam repair, I covered over the whole seat upper with a thin layer of polyester batting to smooth it over.

It's really too bad that there aren't reproduction foam pieces available. I looked for a long time with no luck. You'd think there would at least be someone overcharging the 911 guys for them!
