Major tip for eliminating door rattles on 944
I hated driving my S2 cab over railroad tracks or rough back roads because of the annoying rattles that always seem to come out of both doors. Yes, there are other rattles as well but the doors always seemed loudest. New weatherstripping costs an arm and a leg and just not reasonable for most of us. So I looked a little closer and found that our door weatherstripping is actually hollow. So it occurred to me that I could insert something in the cavity all the way around the perimeter. What I came up with is clear plastic tubing like those that feed air into fish tanks. My door weatherstripping had two openings at each end of the bottom of the door. I use some lube to coat the tubing and it worked its way all the way around. I trimmed it to fit and took the car out for a drive. What a difference! Like a new car. The door closing was a very solid "thud". The down side? I had to close the door hard and opening with the lever was more difficult because of the tightness. I may pull the tubing and replace it with some solid foam in a dowell configuration. It's a bit softer and may be easier on the door. In any case, I'm pleased with the difference.

Real nice tip. Amazing what how much the driving experience is improved when you remove some rattling!
Right now my passenger window rattles at certain heights..gotta figure that one out.

i did something similar, with the inner door seal...the hollow part is just big enough to fit a ~1/4" or 3/8" (dont remember) piece of foam cord (like you use to seal a garage door lol)

Since the door seals on 944 and many other cars are hollow, it would be pretty simple to add refrigerator door magnet seals, which would eliminate a lot of wind leaks and noise, and your AC would not work so hard.
Another idea would be to use thin-walled surgical tubing, then inflate it with a squeeze bulb, for pneumatic door seals.
When the OEM seals fail, it's usually just that the hollow sections lose elasticity and flatten, even though the rubber may be basically good. Any of these ideas would restore function to the seal.

Even nicer is bathroom magnetic door gasket. Mag core is thin and would easily fit in a seal.

Pneumatic seals are used on most aircraft that fly above 10K feet, and are pressurized..In a lot of cases, you can't open the door until the seal is deflated...just a tip. so word to the wise, be certain that the sunroof is directly above the driver's seat when you hit the "EJECT" button.

Definitely a worthwhile idea, but I'm imagining some problems with opening the door. It might not feel right.. or it might be damn hard for your lady friend to push it open. And would that nice heavy sound you get when you shut the door be gone?
