OT-in the dog house
so my girl just blew up at me....spend too much time and money on the car, taking a vacation with my life -long friends who i havent seen since before i graduated from the police academy. she called me a selfish bastard grabbed a pack of smokes (had no idea she was smokin by the way). I work 6pm-2am, i see people die, i risk my life everynight, i have mon and tues off, in my eyes i deserve to spend some of my money to make me happy. If she had it her way who knows

i'm with you V, smoking is disgusting.
put the foot down, say no more smokes and we get a nice weekend together, and definitely some dates down the road, but dont take crap from her, you're doing your best. if she's cool with it, keep her

There are worse things that guys could be doing "on the side" besides working on the car.
I do have a tendency though, to get on a roll with the car and do a lot of small projects one after the other, which can cut into my time spent on other things.
Not the biggest fan of smoking... but what can you do?

Guys who have any kind of skills (know how to use a hammer or a wrench)are seriously undervalued these days as well.
I never tell anyone I change my own oil, etc... people look down on you because you don't pay someone else to do it.
I'd rather spend my spare time "decompressing" by working on the car than by rotting in front of the tv and paying $75/hr shop rate.

Because I have a really hard time forgiving a slight. I always think twice before I say something really harsh to someone. There's always 10 ways to say something with out pulling out the Jerry Springer, "whatever", hand in the face bullsh*t.

-i could be doin alot worse in my spare time than the car
-cops are notorious cheaters and i am not
-my days off suck but its only tempoary
-smoking goes or she goes
since we graduated college where we spent every moment together, we made the real life transition of living and working and having very limited time together. I love her thas the bottom line....and dont worry the car isnt goin anywhere...until i get the 951 fever. I just feel unappreciated and feel like my work is being taken for granted..i need fun dammit. ahhh venting is good.
