Default OT: Shipping From Europe, Pain in the...

Hey,

I gotta vent about this one. Has anyone had anything shipped from Europe of some size? Like a bumper or something?

I just looked into it with Fedex and UPS, shipping basically a bumper that weighs about 5kgs costs $300-$500!!!

I might as well fly over and pick it up! Anyone with some past experience?
Thanks!

How about shipping it with normal mail? Takes a bit longer time but is usually cheaper.

Freight consolidators. You need some contacts in Europe.

I had a complete set of bumper rubber trim sent from the UK for my Euro bumper. It was shipped in a giant box, way bigger than necessary and the whole shebang was under $150.00 via the regular postal service.

Oh, and the box the rubber trim came it was certainly large enough to have contained a whole bumper. I did have to pick it up at the post office however.

Don't forget to order the correct bumper mounts for a Euro bumper. The ones for a US bumper will not work.

Yeah, you have an inexperienced shipper. And a small sized shipment doesn't help.

But try the postal services since you can't get a container for yourself on an airplane.

The shipper did admit that most people are turned off by his high prices of shipping and he doesnt do many large shipments(bumpers/spoilers etc) to the US....
Thanks!

just go there and get it, much more worth the money than having it shipped.

Ever see one of those big aluminum slanted boxes that get loaded into the belly of an airplane? That is what you need to be shipping in but it is sort of tough when you only have a couple items.

The sender just got back to me and said normal mail will take things up to 150cm, and this is 180cm....so that idea is gone...

Is that european mail or US mail?

If it will go in US mail, then send it to my house here in Germany and I'll get it to you via US mail. Postage will be from NY, lucky you.
